Pope Leo XIV Sets 12 Public Masses for November

Released a day after papal physicians cleared his Latin America trip, the November calendar opens with an All Souls’ Mass at Verano on Nov. 2.

On October 27, the Holy See published Pope Leo XIV’s calendar of liturgical celebrations for November and December 2026. The Holy Father will preside at 12 public Masses in November: three in Rome and Vatican City, and nine during his apostolic journey to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from November 6 to 17.

The schedule comes one day after papal physicians confirmed he is fit to undertake the Latin America journey as planned. On October 13, the Pope underwent video-assisted surgery that removed the lower lobe of his right lung. On October 21, doctors stated that no further cancer treatment was required.

Rome: All Souls, the Deceased Shepherds, and St. Peter’s

The first public Mass will be the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed on November 2 at 4 p.m. at Rome’s Verano Cemetery—the same site where he celebrated the feast in 2025. On November 5 at 9 a.m. in St. Peter’s Basilica, he will preside at a Papal Chapel Mass in memory of the cardinals and bishops who died over the past year. On November 18 at 5 p.m., again in St. Peter’s Basilica, he will celebrate Mass marking the fourth centenary of the basilica’s dedication.

Nine Masses Across Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru

During the journey, two Masses are set for Uruguay: November 7 in Paysandú at París Londres Park, and November 8 in Florida at the Cathedral Basilica of Florida, National Shrine of Our Lady of the Thirty-Three.

Three Masses will follow in Argentina: November 9 at the Monumento de los Españoles in Buenos Aires; November 10 at the Military Aviation School in Córdoba; and November 11 at the Basilica of Our Lady of Luján.

Four Masses are planned in Peru: November 13 near Pampas de Pimentel outside Chiclayo, where an estimated one million people are expected; November 14 in Santa Cruz de Succhabamba in the Andes; November 15 at the Villa Deportiva Regional Ucayali sports complex in Pucallpa; and November 16 at Las Palmas Air Base in Callao near Lima.

In an October 26 statement, papal doctor Luigi Carbone said that, based on the Pope’s current clinical status and the instrumental and laboratory tests performed, there are no contraindications that would prevent him from undertaking the apostolic journey as planned. The Pope “is following medical recommendations with great care and diligence, and with a deep determination to continue serving the Church,” Carbone added.

The trip will cover more than 19,000 miles on 14 flights and returns the Holy Father to Chiclayo, where he served as bishop from 2015 to 2023. The official bulletin is signed by Archbishop Diego Ravelli, Titular Archbishop of Recanati and Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations.
