Pope Leo XIV Schedules Fourteen Public Masses in November

Schedule includes an All Souls’ Day Mass at Verano Cemetery and nine celebrations during his Nov. 6–17 trip to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru.

The Vatican released Pope Leo XIV’s November schedule around Oct. 27, listing fourteen public Masses: five in Rome and Vatican City, and nine during his Nov. 6–17 apostolic journey to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru.

Rome and the Vatican

The month opens with the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. On Nov. 2 at 4 p.m., the pope will celebrate Mass at Verano Cemetery, near the Basilica of St. Lawrence Outside the Walls. On Nov. 5 at 9 a.m., he will offer Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica for the cardinals and bishops who died in the past year.

After returning from South America, Pope Leo XIV will mark the 400th anniversary of the dedication of St. Peter’s Basilica with a Mass at 5 p.m. on Nov. 18. He is also scheduled to celebrate Mass at the church of Sant’Andrea delle Fratte on Nov. 27 and at San Carlo da Sezze on Nov. 29.

Nine Masses Across Latin America

Two Masses are set for Uruguay: Nov. 7 in Paysandú and Nov. 8 in Florida. In Argentina the pope will celebrate on Nov. 9 in Buenos Aires, Nov. 10 in Córdoba, and Nov. 11 at the Basilica of Our Lady of Luján, one of the continent’s principal Marian shrines.

Four Masses are planned in Peru: Nov. 13 near Chiclayo, Nov. 14 in the Andes, Nov. 15 in Pucallpa, and Nov. 16 in Callao. The itinerary brings him back to Chiclayo, the diocese he led as bishop from 2015 to 2023.

The journey will cover more than 19,000 miles on fourteen flights. On Oct. 21, papal physicians cleared the trip after video-assisted lung surgery on Oct. 13, saying there were “no contraindications” and that the Holy Father is following medical recommendations “with great care and diligence.”

For a pope shaped by years of episcopal ministry in northern Peru, the November calendar places the Eucharist at the center of both Rome’s prayer for the dead and a pastoral return to the Church in Latin America.
