Pope Leo XIV Names Houston Priest Maronite Bishop in Mexico
Rev. Milad Yaghi, of the Maronite Lebanese Missionaries, has served Houston’s Maronite and Hispanic Catholics; no installation date was announced.
Pope Leo XIV nominated the Reverend Milad Yaghi as bishop of the Maronite Eparchy of Our Lady of the Martyrs of Lebanon in Mexico. The appointment was announced Oct. 12, 2026, in Washington, D.C., by Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, apostolic nuncio to the United States.
Father Yaghi, a member of the Maronite Lebanese Missionaries, currently serves as a pastor in Houston. There he has ministered to growing Maronite and Hispanic Catholic communities.
The eparchy serves Maronite Catholics across Mexico. The nomination deepens bonds between Maronite faithful in the United States and Mexico and underscores the Holy See’s care for Eastern Catholic communities, as well as the role of U.S.-based clergy in serving the wider Americas.
No date for his episcopal ordination or installation was announced.
